project 6 | green week
Starting the 9.March.2008 we will have GREEN WEEK.
An entire week devoted to making all our students aware about Climate Change and Global Warming. Youth are the future. And we are making sure we take full advantage of our young minds, we are capable of so much. And to let all that go to waste would be a shame.
The Schedule is as follows:
|
Sunday 9th |
Monday 10th |
Tuesday 11th |
Wednesday 12th |
Thursday 13th |
|
Exhibition Day We will be having a display set up in the cafeteria showing information and displays about Global Warming and its effects. It will be held in cafeteria 1. Each (preferably) form class will be taken out for 10 minutes each from both schools to see the exhibition. We will set up a time table for each year and class.
|
THIS HAS BEEN MOVED TO THURSDAY AND THE COST WILL BE 10 DHS PER STUDENT. FREE DRESS DAY IS THEREFORE CANCELED. Picture Day We will have a whole school photo like the one of the Emirate Flag, except it will be in formation of a large e3 sign. YEAR 6-7 WEAR GREEN with trousers or skirts of their own choice.
|
Seconday School Assembly There will be an assembly during PSHE for secondary students. This will be informative about the widespread and direct impacts of climate change. We will be having 2 guest speakers: one from EDA and the other who works with green implementation in construction. |
Paint It Students from year 3-7 will be organized to paint their own ideas of environmental awareness in behaviour and everyday actions. They will paint on recycled cardboard paper and a mural will be put together for each year group in both the Primary and Secondary schools. |
THE FREE DRESS DAY HAS BEEN CANCELED AND THE PICTURE DAY WILL BE TAKING ITS PLACE. THE PIZZA PARTY HAS NOT BEEN CANCELED HOWEVER, AND THE COMPETITION IS STILL ON. Free Dress Day Non-uniform day. The cost is 10 Dhs. It will be free dress so students choose what to wear themselves. Culture conscious clothing must be worn. Also, there will be a bake sale during break time, collaboratively organized with the DIS Student Council. Pizza party for winning form class in cafeteria last period. Both primary and secondary. |
We really hope this will be successful in not only education our students, but also inspiring them, to make a difference, take a stand, to think outside of themselves and look at the big picture.
Lots of preparation has gone into this, and the results seem to be looking very bright.
Let’s make it happen.
