Union Paper Mills Field Trip | 26.Jan.2009

FIELD TRIP!

13 ecubed student members as well as two accompanying teachers (15 in total) went to the Union Paper Mills factory today to see how paper is recycled.

A courteus Mr. T. Anjaneyulu (production manager) showed us the ropes. He presented to us all the machines and the exact process of how everything works. He explained everything to us in great depth, and the best part is that I think all the students understood the whole process!

We are planning to have the ecubed students present the process to the entire school–and contrast it with the landfill dumping that we participate in, but hardly witness in our everyday lives.

We learned the 7 basic steps for recycling paper into cardboard paper. Hopefully we’ll be able to see how plastic is recycled as well! :)

  1. Hi Seaonnah. I’m a writer at VIVA girl magazine – the UAE’s only teen magazine. I’ve been trying to contact you via email but am not sure whether you have received them? The reason I’ve been trying to get in touch is that here at VIVA girl we are planning to kick off a ‘Go Green’ campaign in forthcoming issues. I’ve been reading about your work as President of Ecubed and was hoping that you might be interested in getting involved? I thought that potentially VIVA girl could run a feature about you and Ecubed, and that you could provide readers with tips on going green at home as well as campaigning in the community?
If this idea is of interest, do drop me an email and we can hopefully set something up over the next couple of weeks. Thanks!
